COVID-19
ARTE began contacting and monitoring families immediately after the shutdown. Food insecurity was an immediate need. ARTE secured grants for food and resources. New Haven Public Schools helped ARTE identify the neediest families including a growing number of homeless families.
NH4PR
On September 20, 2017 hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico. This was the strongest hurricane, to make landfall since 1932, with sustained winds of 155mph. ARTE quickly collaborated with community partners to create New Haven for Puerto Rico (NH4PR). ARTE acted as the fiduciary and Daniel Diaz, ARTE Co-founder / Chair took the lead to raise funds and resources. ARTE assured that every dollar and donation collected went directly to Puerto Rico.
